The Open Knowledge Foundation is the proud creator and one of the maintainers of two officially recognised digital public goods (DPGs): CKAN and Open Data Editor (ODE).
DPGs are open-source software, open data, open AI models, open standards and open content that are relevant to the achievement of the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. DPGs must adhere to privacy and other laws, cause no harm, and be made available to support sustainable digital development globally.
The DPG Registry is maintained by the Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA). The Open Knowledge Foundation has been a member of the DPGA since 2023.
The following videos explain how our technology can enable a fairer, more open and sustainable world in plain language that everyone can understand, including those outside the worlds of technology and open data.
CKAN: Powering Open Data Portals Everywhere
CKAN is a sustainable, 20-year-old open-source data management system that turns disorganised data into something people can actually find and use.
Open Data Editor: Error-free Spreadsheets, No Code Needed
An open-source desktop app that catches errors in your data automatically and shows you exactly what needs fixing.
If you have any questions about our DPGs, or if you are interested in potential partnerships or collaborations to facilitate wider adoption, please email us at info@okfn.org.
