  • As you, I often fear Commons as well ofr its bureacracy and copyright zealots,
    but I find it’s really the best chance we have. As you probably know, there are several partnerships going on with libraries, archives, museums, galleries for importing and uploading evey kind of artistic and educational content. I think this is really important, also because is making the community aware of professional best practices and standard, and all this will eventually make commons a wiki framework with right tools and content to be the best free image archive online.

  • Great post. I am starting to think that a versioning system would be nice for images. We have versioning control for code, e..g, Github, R-Forge, etc., but nothing for images, that I know of. Thus, you make a figure and then you just have to save all the versions as separate files on your machine. Perhaps a web service could account for all of that for you, just like Github does for code.
