The Open Knowledge Foundation is looking for four developers with Python and React JS skills to test the Open Data Editor (ODE) desktop application between October and November and help us improve its functionality.
If you’re interested in open data tools, this is your chance to get involved and make a difference in an application that is in development and finalisation.
You will:
- Test the app and report any issues (including documentation problems) via GitHub Issues.
- Push PRs to solve three issues selected by our core team.
- Have a follow-up call with the core team to report on their experience.
In return, you’ll receive a $1,000 mini-grant for your contributions!

About us
The Open Knowledge Foundation (OKFN) is the world’s ultimate reference in open digital infrastructure and the hub of the open movement. As a global not-for-profit, we have been establishing and advocating for open standards for the last 20 years. We provide services, tools and training for institutions to adopt openness as a design principle.
Our mission is to be global leaders for the openness of all forms of knowledge and secure a fair, sustainable, and open future for all. We envision an open world where all non-personal information is open and free for everyone to use, build on, and share, and creators and innovators are fairly recognised and rewarded. Together, we seek to unlock the knowledge and data needed to solve the most pressing problems of our times.

About the application
Open Data Editor is the new app developed by Open Knowledge Foundation that makes it easier for people with little to no technical skills to work with data. It helps users validate and describe their data in no time, increasing the quality of the data they produce and consume. It is being developed in the context of Frictionless Data, an initiative at OKFN producing a collection of standards and software for the publication, transport, and consumption of data.
